Faculty of Theology

ABOUT FACULTY OF THEOLOGY AND MISSION

The Faculty of Theology and Mission at the University of Iringa was established to educate individuals for the Christian Ministry. It seeks to understand and interpret the Christian faith within a broad context, aiming to liberate the Church from social, cultural, economic, and managerial challenges that hinder its holistic mission of salvation.

The faculty engages in research and teaching across various fields, including Theology, Christian Studies, Inter-religious Studies, and Diaconal Studies. It recognizes that theology serves as a means to a greater end, which is to proclaim the good news of God to the contemporary world in an ordered and persuasive manner, aligning its teachings with the profound mystery of God’s redemption through Jesus Christ.

While rooted in the Lutheran tradition, the Faculty of Theology welcomes ecumenical students, believing that theological education should address holistic human needs. The faculty boasts a team of competent, dedicated, and experienced teaching staff with international exposure. In addition to their academic excellence, the faculty members are well-versed in the life of the local church, which enriches their teaching in the classroom.
